No — The Lawson Academy is a free public charter school. There is no tuition, no academic admissions requirements, and all meals are provided at no extra cost. Students must live in Harris County to enroll.
Our middle school program offers separate boys' and girls' classes to better address the distinct physical, social, and emotional needs of each group during critical developmental years. This model reduces distractions, builds confidence, and fosters academic success.
We offer robotics, drone, and tech clubs, along with music, art, drama, and competitive sports. We also partner with organizations like Rice University, Chevron, and the Astros Foundation to bring unique real-world experiences to our scholars.
A charter school is a public school of choice funded by the Texas Education Agency, just like traditional ISDs. Charter schools have more flexibility in operations and management, which allows us to tailor our programs and culture to better serve our community — all at no cost to families.
